Born and raised in Sorel, Quebec, Mike Girard is a pianist and composer who, for more than three decades, has been known for his refined artistic sensitivity supported by solid academic training. He studied at the Conservatoire de musique and university in musicology as well as under renowned professors in the United States and developed his own style which combines classical techniques and world music influences.

From age 18, Mike is driven by his love of music. His career quickly takes an international turn: he becomes a professional accompanist on the piano for several well-known artists of different genres, such as Paul Anka, Jacques Michel, Lynda Lemay, Ashley MacIsaac, and he even works with the legendary film score composer, John Williams.

Prolific composer and arranger, he is a sought-after partner and has participated in the production of over 50 music albums since 1988. His musical universe includes movie soundtracks, neoclassical orchestrations, ancient and pop music—all of which demonstrate his great versatility. He has used his multiple talents to produce such diversified projects as the Fréquences, Voyage, and Butterfly albums, as well as carry out collaborations with Judith Bérard and the Australian artist Jonah. He even came in fourth place for his work as a sound designer in a European short film contest.

His professional journey took him across Europe, Asia and the United States, giving him the opportunity to share his music with an international audience. Inspired by creators such as Philip Glass, Mike is currently working on large scale projects – including a collaboration with Ashley MacIsaac and Philip Glass himself – for which he continues to explore ancient music repertoires and to provide guidance and support to emerging artists.
